Pillage The Skies

While the clipper's sails billowed, the water lapped at her sides, a puppy at the heels of its mistress. But when the crew looked down from her arms, they saw a sneering beast preparing their graves.   
Despite that, curses rode on the breeze and laughter drifted into open sea. Ropes slithered around the deck, searching for an ankle to snag. The seamen slid down the rigging like rain down a glass window. Sometimes climbing up, the droplets returning to the sky.

Swing SetSwinging my legs, I sway -  like the meadow flowers  before the wind.  I lean into the motion,  slicing the air,  faster than any metronome  has kept time.  Soon, I'm walking  on that dome some call  "atmosphere,"  peering at the shrugging seas,  watching the tiptoeing land.  Descending, sliding down the railing  of cloudy steps,  past the fledgling's laughter.  I smile and laugh with them.  Swaying and leaning once more  on my childhood swing. Tarnished NotesPolished flutes came out of cases and the trumpets blared their audition pieces. I hugged my saxophone, with the mouthpiece over my shoulder it formed a brass shield from the talent of the other children. Do, Re, Screech, Fa, Screech, Screech, Ti, Screech, they played   
How can these private school kids expect to audition with their... I hesitated to use the word "talent" because frankly, they had none.   
I hugged my instrument fondly. I could actually stand a chance, I thought, Me, a dirt-poor, public school kid, could actually beat out the rich kids! Shiny brass couldn't touch me.
